Lyle V. Schell Construction is looking for dependable and motivated Journeyperson and Apprentice Carpenters to join our commercial construction team.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in quality workmanship, work safely, and enjoy being part of a productive construction crew. Whether you are an experienced Journeyperson or an Apprentice looking to continue developing your skills and trade experience, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry work on commercial construction projects.

  • Construct, install, assemble, and repair building components and structures.

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and other construction materials.

  • Read and work from drawings, specifications, and project instructions.

  • Assist with concrete forming, framing, finishing, and general commercial construction activities as required.

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

  • Work effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, subcontractors, and other crew members.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable workplace safety requirements.

  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining high standards for quality and workmanship.

Requirements

Applicants should have one of the following:

  • Journeyperson Carpenter certification; or

  • Registered Carpenter Apprentice status; or

  • Relevant carpentry and commercial construction experience with an interest in continuing in the trade.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Reliable and able to work full-time.

  • Comfortable working in a commercial construction environment.

  • Able to perform physically demanding construction work.

  • Safety-conscious and committed to quality workmanship.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a construction crew.

  • Willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities as their skills develop.

Additional Assets

The following qualifications and experience are considered assets but are not required:

  • Experience operating a skid steer.

  • Experience operating a telehandler.

  • Experience operating an aerial work platform.

  • Leadership for Safety Excellence training.

  • First Aid certification.

  • WHMIS certification.

  • Additional construction equipment or safety certifications.

  • Previous commercial construction experience.
