Apiary technician

About this role

  • 🐝 Care for honeybee colonies through routine inspections, feeding, and seasonal husbandry.

  • 🚜 Move bees into and out of pollination fields safely and on schedule.

  • 🦠 Monitor hive health, identify signs of disease or pests, and follow treatment plans.

  • 🍯 Assist with honey harvesting, extraction, and handling of honey supers.

  • πŸ› οΈ Repair and maintain bee equipment, vehicles, and related tools.

  • πŸ“‹ Keep accurate beekeeping, treatment, and production records.

  • 🧼 Clean and sanitize extraction and work areas to required standards.

  • πŸ‘₯ Support training and supervision of new employees as needed.

  • πŸŒ™ Work some evenings and weekends during peak season and urgent hive work.

Requirements

  • ⏳ Minimum 3 years of experience in a Canadian commercial apiary is an asset and 1 year is required.

  • πŸš— Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate farm and apiary vehicles safely.

  • πŸ’ͺ Good physical condition for heavy lifting, repetitive work, and outdoor labour.

  • πŸ‘€ Strong visual attention to assess colony condition and detect bee health issues.

  • πŸ—£οΈ English language proficiency for safe communication and workplace coordination.

  • πŸ› οΈ Practical mechanical skills for basic equipment repair and maintenance.

  • 🀝 Reliable team player with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Terms of employment
