About this role

The Laborer at 1st Choice Fabric Installation performs physically demanding tasks on construction sites, including site preparation, material handling, operating tools (e.g., hammer drilling, hand tools) and cleaning up the job trailers and job site daily. They assist skilled Operators, work in various weather conditions, and maintain high safety standards to ensure projects are completed efficiently.

Requirements

1.        Site Preparation & Cleanup:

-Cleaning up rubble and debris, removing hazardous materials, and cleaning up before the end of shifts to ensure good housekeeping on our jobsite and Job trailers.

2.        Material Handling:

-Loading and unloading construction materials from trucks and moving them to work areas.

3.        Assisting Operators & Foreman:

-Assisting skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, and roofers.

- Contribute to a positive work environment while ensuring adherence to safety

protocols.

4.        Tool and Equipment Operation:

-Operating hand tools and power tools.

- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools required for each job, ensuring that all

The necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.

5.        Structural Assistance, Demolition & Excavation:

-Erecting and dismantling engineered steel trusses, concrete blocks, wood pony walls, and other types of foundation under the direction of the site foreman.

-Assisting with site demolition and levelling earth using shovels and rakes.

6.      Punctuality:

- Arrive at work on time each day, prepared to fulfill job responsibilities.

- Maintain daily communication with the on-site foreman to ensure a clear

understanding of project requirements and updates.

Qualifications & Requirements

·        Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy materials (often 50+ lbs) and stand for long periods.

·        Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to follow safety guidelines (e.g., OH&S).

·        Licensing: A valid driver's license is required.

·        Willingness to learn and improve individually as well as with the team

·        Proactive attitude toward acquiring new skills.

Work Environment

  •  Work is outdoors, often in inclement weather conditions (extreme heat/cold).

  •  High-noise, dusty environments necessitating personal protective equipment (PPE).

  •  Hours can include overtime and early morning starts (7:00 am)
