E.W. Industries Ltd. (EWI) is a growing company with operations internationally, and the team behind Sierra Stone, RubberStone and Enduraflake Floors. We’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. You’ll own the day-to-day financial records and reporting the business relies on, including invoicing, payments, the general ledger and management reporting.
You’ll work directly with the CFO, with a high degree of independence and autonomy in how you manage your work.
You’ll be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including:
• General ledger, account reconciliations, schedules and monthly reporting, including variance review
• Accounts receivable: customer payments, credits, aging, collections, statements and account inquiries
• Full-cycle accounts payable: reviewing and coding vendor bills, approved payment runs and vendor statement reconciliations
• Bi-weekly payroll, payroll remittances, insurance reporting and related filings
• Canadian and U.S. sales tax reporting and remittances
• Reviewing and processing employee expense reports, and supporting employees with submissions
• Cash flow forecasting, budgeting, monthly reporting and ad hoc analysis with the CFO
• Preparing schedules and documentation for the year-end review with our external accounting firm
• Identifying and implementing improvements to finance processes, controls and systems
• Maintaining accurate, organized, audit-ready records
Requirements
• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field; a degree, diploma or equivalent experience will be considered
• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a small to mid-sized organization where you owned multiple accounting functions
• Hands-on experience with the general ledger, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close
• Experience with accounts receivable and the full accounts payable cycle
• Experience processing payroll or supporting payroll compliance, including remittances, benefits, insurance or statutory filings
• Experience reviewing employee expense reports and supporting employees with submissions and policies
• A track record of improving finance processes and using technology to increase accuracy and efficiency
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, and proficiency with accounting systems, ERP platforms and Microsoft Excel
• The ability to work independently with minimal oversight, manage competing deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy
• Strong communication skills with team members, customers, vendors and external advisors
• Discretion and sound judgment with confidential financial, payroll and employee information
• Ability to be bonded and legal authorization to work in Canada
