About this role

The Lumberyard Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient material handling, safe work practices, and excellent customer service. This role supervises yard staff, assists with loading delivery trucks, and ensures the yard operates safely and efficiently.

***Lumberyard or Construction experience a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Supervise daily lumberyard and warehouse activities.

  • Coordinate the receiving, storage, and distribution of lumber and building materials.

  • Ensure accurate and efficient loading and unloading of customer and delivery trucks.

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe yard and warehouse environment.

  • Monitor workflow and adjust staffing or processes to meet operational needs.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and supervise lumberyard staff and forklift operators.

  • Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity targets are met.

  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.

Customer Service

  • Ensure customers are loaded promptly and accurately.

  • Assist customers with product location and material handling when required.

  • Resolve customer concerns related to yard operations.

  • Ensure proper use of forklifts, loaders, and yard equipment.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • 3–5 years experience in lumberyard or equivalent

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Knowledge of lumber, building materials, and yard operations.

  • Forklift and material-handling equipment experience.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Standing, walking, bending, and operating equipment for extended periods.


Work Environment

  • Outdoor lumberyard and warehouse setting.

  • Exposure to weather, dust, and heavy equipment.
